Taking this figure of speech as a starting point for humankind’s approach to the climate crisis, Nordic Viola’s Katherine Wren enters into a musical conversation with Aberdeenshire composers Pete Stollery and Joe Stollery on the changing ecology of Deeside. Together they explore the aftermath of Storm Frank around Glen Quoich as well as the changing ecology of our woodlands and wetlands, learning from local experts at Mar Lodge National Nature Reserve.
Creating new music through improvisation, composition and field recording and also featuring original music by Scottish-Icelandic composer Charles Ross as well as traditional music from Deeside by Paul Anderson, they celebrate the beauty and diversity of this wild place and its ability to adapt and renew itself in the face of severe weather events. They offer a prayer for its preservation and a more harmonious existence between humankind and the natural world.
