Gemma McGregor has created a new work based around the story of St Magnus and which follows points on the Magnus Way – a pilgrimage route in Orkney which leads to St Magnus Cathedral and where the relics of Magnus are to be found.
The Pilgrim’s Path is a suite of six new pieces for flute and viola whose titles are inspired by George Mackay Brown. The music is interspersed with spoken word on St. Magnus’ life and the route of the St. Magnus Way.
The Pilgrim’s Path was premiered at St. Magnus Cathedral, Orkney, as part of the St. Magnus International Festival 2025

Gemma McGregor was funded by Creative Scotland’s Open Fund to create The Pilgrim’s Path
