On A Wing and A Prayer – Sound and Art Workshops – Dunblane

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses in Dunblane, I’m really excited to be bringing our workshops exploring local environments and the changes they are undergoing to my local community.

This time we have the luxury of three weekly sessions, each with a very special guest, allowing us to build up art and soundscapes before sharing them in our final week, alongside a performance of music by myself and good friend composer Matilda Brown.

The booking link is here and you can also turn up on the door, subject to capacity.

The workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities. Book a single workshop or join us for the series! All workshops are free to access with a suggested donation of £10 per workshop.

2nd February 2-6pm – led by artist Orla Stevens, we will explore Dunblane making marks on paper and collecting sounds in response to the environment around us. On return to our base at Weigh Ahead, we’ll reflect on what we’ve heard and seen and also reflect on our changing habitats in the light of human activity and our changing weather patterns as we develop our sketches.

9th February 2-6pm – led by musician Katherine Wren of Nordic Viola, we will once again venture outdoors for an hour to build on our library of sounds. On return to Weigh Ahead, we’ll listen and reflect on how we can combine our sounds to tell a musical story and how this might respond to our artwork.

23rd February 2-6pm Venue tbc– led by composer Matilda Brown and musician Katherine Wren, we’ll draw together our artwork and sounds, adding in simple percussion, to create a 10min piece of music.

The day will finish with an informal sharing of our new piece at 5pm followed by a short performance of original music by Katherine Wren and Matilda Brown inspired by the environment.
